Situated on a terraced hillside along the Colorado River, Iron Mountain Hot Springs features 16 individual soaking pools. Each one is unique in size, shape and temperature. There’s also a larger, freshwater family pool with an attached, elevated jetted spa. Temperatures range from 99° to 108°F for the soaking pools and 93°F for the family pool. Everyone has their personal favorite. Try them all to find the one that’s just right for you.
Iron Mountain is genuinely unique among Colorado hot springs; the waters are 100 percent pure and chemical free just as nature intended. The geothermal water which fills the soaking pools comes from deep within the earth carrying within it 14 health-boosting minerals that enhance mind-body relaxation and overall wellness.
It’s All About the Extras
In addition to pristine waters, the little extras at Iron Mountain Hot Springs make a big impact. Locker rooms are beautifully appointed with complimentary shower products. A retail shop carries swim essentials as well as souvenirs. Two water bottle filling stations located in the bathhouse make it easy to stay hydrated all day long. Other amenities include a casual, poolside restaurant —the Sopris Café—open for lunch and dinner; it also serves beer, wine and premade cocktails in pool-friendly packaging.
Among the highlights of soaking at Iron Mountain Hot Springs is its ambiance. Walkways connect all the soaking pools; in winter, geothermal heat keeps them snow-free. In summer, umbrellas provide shade and the landscape blooms with magnificent hanging baskets and potted plants. All year round however, it’s the views that dazzle. Rugged red rock mountains, snow-capped peaks and the wide watery ribbon of the Colorado River capture the eye and the imagination. As the day wanes, Iron Mountain Hot Springs is a top spot in Glenwood Springs to watch a colorful sunset and later in the evening a place to marvel at the night sky.
Iron Mountain Hot Springs requires reservations and is open year-round with daily hours from 9 a.m. to 10 p.m.
