Driving to Glenwood Springs

Your Arrival: Know Before You Go

Due to the Grizzly Creek Fire burn scar, there have been several mudslide incidents this year in Glenwood Canyon which has affected travel for I-70.

Not to Worry! There are several alternate routes to Glenwood Springs and Iron Mountain Hot Springs is still open. We do not close for inclement weather. We may ask guests to leave the pools for a short time if there is lightning nearby. Take a look at the Colorado Department of Transportation site for more information regarding alternate routes.

Here are a few tips for planning your road trip to Glenwood Springs:

  • If you have a reservation it is advised that you travel and arrive as early as possible. Flood Watch and Flood Warnings typically happen in the afternoon. Flood Warnings will cause a Glenwood Canyon closure.
  • Sign up for travel alerts on the Colorado Department of Transportation site. Stay tuned to weather advisories and plan your travel accordingly.
  • If Glenwood Canyon closes, it is advised by the Colorado Department of Transportation to take the northern alternate route through Steamboat Springs.
